Our History

Health

The Martin Dawes Group, of which Harris of Saltcoats forms a part has been involved in the delivery of critical, secure video communication services for over 15 years. We have a wealth of experience working within the NHS, providing telemedicine solutions within healthcare and the prison sector. With over six years’ experience working with the NHS, the company understands the unique and challenging environment in which this technology is employed.

Martin Dawes Solutions (MDS) works closely with technical and clinical stakeholders, to ensure any service design is robust, fit for purpose and will be readily adopted by clinicians. Moreover, our intent is to provide a solution built upon tried and trusted technology. Our designs will always address all the mandatory technology and service requirements whilst leaving optional, modular investment opportunities to increase the flexibility, resilience and performance of the standard service model either after the initial consultation, prior to deployment, or at any time during the project lifetime.

We have been working in close partnership with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust for the past 6 years within Prison Telemedicine. Airedale are seen as a Telemedicine Pioneer within the NHS both regionally and nationally. Jointly we provide services to more than 20 prisons across the UK and this figure continues to grow as more and prisons see the value of Prison Telemedicine for both the Prisoners healthcare needs as well as for the cost savings that can be shown from deploying this type of remote care.

Recently MDS have been awarded the “Telemedicine for stroke” thrombolysis service, for the whole of the Yorkshire and Humber region. This contract is the largest ever Telemedicine for Stroke project that has been delivered in the UK, covering 70 video endpoints across the whole of the region and will be managed on a 24/7 basis by our own dedicated video operations centre, based here in the UK. As part of this project we now have a dedicated network and Infrastructure, housed within secure date centres based at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust which provides a fully resilient and secure video network on an existing NHS site. This video network solution, we believe, will meet the healthcare needs of the region and beyond, both today and for years to come, whatever challenges lie ahead.

Criminal Justice:

Martin Dawes Solutions (MDS) have a comprehensive understanding of the Criminal Justice Sector, gaining experience working with the Organisations in designing and building complimentary audio-visual systems and videoconferencing solutions to meet their environment.

Following the success of the Prison Court Video links contract the awareness of audio-visual and video conferencing technology and its benefits, has increased dramatically. Criminal Justice Organisations (CJO’s) such as the agencies listed below utilise the technology to improve productivity on a daily basis.

  • Ministry of Justice
  • Her Majesty Court Service
  • Crown Prosecution Service
  • National Offender Management Service
  • Tribunal Service
  • Her Majesty Prison Service
  • Parole Board
  • Youth Justice Board

MDS has provided a number of bespoke audio-visual and video conferencing solutions providing inter-agency unified communications. Examples of which are provided below

Courts & Prisons

Prison Court Video Links (PCVL) allows offenders to appear in court via a live video link from Her Majesty Prison Service sites. PCVL systems are primarily used for court hearings and legal visits.

Martin Dawes Solutions has also successfully integrated this technology into many of Her Majesty Court Service courtrooms, to allow the display of ‘live’ video images; this improves efficiency and provides a fair trial. Still and moving images also play a very important part in most court hearings and it is essential that the judge, prosecution, defence team and jury are able to see and understand the importance of the information that is being presented to them.

Video technology has also been further utilised in a Courts, to allow victims to provide evidence ‘externally’ to a courtroom environment. These Victims and Intimidated Witnesses (VIW) links provide a safe and secure alternative to appearing in person. Her Majesty’s Court Service also use video technologies to reduce travel via meeting rooms systems
